How a DOWPA is made

Short version: bamboo, glass, epoxy, heat and pressure. Long version below.

Bamboo core

Vertically laminated bamboo panels, cut on our own CNC. Bamboo takes repeat flex better than most plywoods, so the deck still feels alive after a season.

German epoxy

Fiberglass and R&G Resin L with the 40-minute hardener: a proper composite epoxy, not hardware-store resin.

The layup goes into a heated press we built ourselves: steel frame, 1.4 m bed, four hydraulic jacks, and a CNC-milled mould with a sheet-metal skin that leaves the surface clean. Heat and pressure hold the camber and concave while the epoxy cures.
